What would you do?

For our first real post, I'd like you to tell me what you like about blogs, and what you would like to see on this one. We've talked some about this in class, so I know you have interesting opinions to share!

Specifically I want to know:

  • How often do you use blogs? Have you ever had your own blog before?
  • How can a blog be useful for learning a foreign language?
  • What would you like to see on this blog? Keep it reasonable, please!
You don't need to write alot, just give us some of your most fabulous/marvelous ideas. The first person to post a comment gets a gold star. Everyone else, look at your classmates' comments and respond to them where appropriate (and always politely, of course).

Happy blogging!

  1. Hello everyone!

Well, I don't really use many blogs, maybe when I am looking for information and I want to know the opinion of other people. I travel a lot and sometimes the best information it is from other travellers that have been there.

A couple of years ago, I have had my own blog, when I was for two moths travelling and diving around Asia, that way I could post photos and information about places and diving spots I was.

If we talk about this blog, in my opinion, I think that it can be very useful to: read off, share information, solve problems that we can find....furthermore use it will help us to develop some skills like reading comprehension or writing on a target language!

I would like to use this tool to improve our knowledge, through different activities, comments, opinions, suggestions...

Well, I hope we can enjoy this blog and I encourage everyone to participate as much as possible.

    See you on Saturday

  2. Hi everyone!

I really use blogs. I read many of them to be inform about my hobbies, such as new gadgets and the reviews of them, TV series, some gossip and also about photography.

I never really have a blog. I didn't know what to write. Maybe one day, if I make a trip like Lucia's ill wrote it down on a blog.

Reading blogs are useful to learn another language, but I think they are even more useful to learn day-to-day expressions and collocations which we rarely see in class.

I agree with Lucia on what I would like to see on this blog. Maybe on of our assignments for the week could be to write an entry about whatever we want and the rest have to comment on it giving their opinion.

    See you tomorrow,
    Ángel.

  3. Hi there!

    Hope everyone's having a good friday :)

Currently I don't have any blog, but I used to have one when I was on my early teens.
However, because I'm studying Journalism, I can say that almost everyday I have to look up something on this kind of social media representations.

Why?Well...the reason is pretty simple, you can find tons of information with only 'one click'.
Talking about learning foreing languages, blogs are (at least in my opinion) a really good tool to study thoroughly some aspects of the language that are more difficult to find in a text book. I mean...I'm not talking just about slang or that kind of vocabulary but how people really communicate their ideas to some others.

What I would really like to see of this blog as a whole is just what I said on the last paragraph... people sharing knowledge, experiences...whatever, making of this blog something more that people posting in order to get a good mark (including me, of course).

    See you all tomorrow,

    Ana.

  4. Hello¡¡
Well I had a blog long time ago. I had to create a blog in the subject of "Computer Science" 4 years ago. I really liked it. In fact I never delete the blog so you can see it if you want: http://cienciatierra.blogspot.com.es/
Actually it wasn't a real blog because I didn't write anything on my own, I just did "copy and paste" from several sources.
I think the blog could be useful for exchanging ideas, topics or questions about the class and the English language.
I would like to find some complementary materials such as web pages, examples, videos, whatever. I wold be really important to upload material about the CAE.
    See you on Saturday

  5. Hi!

This is the first time that I write something on a blog, I sometimes visit some blogs because they seem interesting and useful to me because of the information they can give you about some specific subjects, also when you're surfing the internet you can discover the blog of a person who lives far away, and if you start reading it you realise the differences of the blogger's country and yours and that's some kind of way to make tourism, just like reading a book where the action is placed in some exotic country.

Despite the fact that I like blogs I never had one, maybe some day I'll create one, but I'm not really into new technologies.

A blog can be useful for learning a foreing country but only if you have a certain knowledge of that language previously, if not the only way to understand something is to translate the page with google translator and that's not always a good idea.

I'd like to see some interesting stories related with English language in this blog, I'm agree with Moisés in the above, it would be useful to have complementary materials posted here.

Have a nice week everyone! See you on Saturday!

  6. What’s up!

Well, I never have had a blog before; however, I read some of them that are related to my interests such as music, films, etc. As my other fellows believe, I think they are very useful at looking for any kind of information. In fact, they have helped me in a variety of situations like cooking, fixing problems with my computer or recommending me books.

I consider that this will be a very helpful tool for learning English because, by reading it, we will be constantly practicing our use of English, and also because it is easier to read about things that you are interest of. Moreover, we can star by sharing experiences of how or when besides class we practice our English and after that suggesting any subjects at the end of the class.
    See you on Saturday.
